HTC's latest Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard device is called the HTC Snap. Is the S522 (US designation) going to be the home run everyone thinks it will be, or will it fall flat, just...like...that <snap!>.I saw this on a couple of different sites over the last week; but I was very excited to hear about the latest WinMo Standard Device coming from HTC, the HTC Snap.
Building on the success of the Excalibur and the Cavalier and its QWERTY form factor, the HTC Snap is a Windows Mobile Standard 6.1 device that measures 61.5 x 116.5 x 12 millimeters, and weighs in at 120 grams. Its major specs are as follows:
- CPU - Qualcomm MSM7225 @ 528mHz
- ROM – 256MB
- RAM – 192MB
- Display – 320x240
- Network - GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS900, UMTS2100
- Data - CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR
- Wireless+LAN: 802.11b, 802.11g
- Camera – 2MP
- Battery - 1500 mAh
Since the Snap, or HTC S522, is going to make an appearance on T-Mobile, the Inner Circle fits very well with T-Mo's Favs feature. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if T-Mobile tries to tie the two together.
The Snap's trackball has an enter button; which should function very much like the Samsung Epix's virtual mouse. You'll be able to navigate the screen, moving from hot spot to hot spot, and then select the desired link by pressing its enter function.
Interested parties should look for the HTC Snap/ T-Mobile S522 later in the summer of 2009.
