While our columnist Bambi Blue is still overwhelmed by work keeping her from writing this column, we have hired new columnist Sweyn Venderbush from New York City - USA, helping us out with his insight into the Windows Mobile world. It is also true that we haven't introduced him formally to our International readers yet, but we feel like letting his writing speak for us while also taking advantage of this brief intro to give him a warm welcome to our editorial team. This week Sweyn covers Sprint's Palm Treo Pro, HP's iPAQ Data Messenger, the upcoming Firefox Mobile and the Verizon Wireless XV6900 being upgraded to WinMo 6.1 [Editor's Note].
We had a slow news week in the Windows Mobile world so the biggest news of the week is a mistaken release. Sprint accidently released the Palm Treo Pro on their website before quickly pulling it down.
The Treo Pro has before this only been available unlocked in the US for the steep fee of $549. However, Sprint announced at CES this year that they would be carrying the much hyped Palm Pre and the rumors have been going around that the Pre has been delayed.

Palm Treo Pro: finally coming to Sprint
Speaking of unlocked phones, the iPAQ Data Messenger is available for pre-order for the even steeper fee of $600 from HP. The Data Messenger features a touch screen and slide-out keyboard similar to the HTC Touch Pro. It has a 3.1 Megapixel camera with autofocus as well as Wi-Fi and GPS.
Firefox Mobile (codenamed Fennec) made the news this week. Fennec has been available for the Nokia N810 tablet for some time as well as a downloadable beta for Mac, Windows, and Linux so users can check it out even though it is not available for their platform. Well, rumor has it that Fennec will be available for the HTC Touch Pro within the next month (some sites have the release slotted for as early as next week).

Mozilla's Firefox Mobile ("Fennec") coming to a HTC Touch Pro near you?
And to finish off the news this week, with Windows Mobile 6.5 rumored to be arriving next month, the Verizon Wireless XV6900 (codenamed HTC Vogue AKA the CDMA version of the HTC Touch) finally got its official Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade. Nice work at staying up to date, Verizon.
